How Medical Detox Supports Addiction Recovery

Anxiety, shame, body aches, nausea and other issues can be hurdles that prevent patients from receiving proper treatment for substance abuse. Many individuals avoid seeking high quality inpatient medical detox services because of associated stigma or the fear of uncomfortable withdrawal symptoms.

However, avoiding detoxing or attempting to detox without professional assistance, and choosing lower levels of care can dramatically harm an individual’s ability to recover. Withdrawal from drugs or alcohol is physically difficult, and can be dangerous without medical supervision. The best and safest option for handling substance abuse is medically managed inpatient detox.

Many rehabilitation programs also require patients to be sober and medically stable (completely detoxed) before admission. Coming to Gallus first will help you comfortably transition to the next phases of your recovery. Gallus partners with a number of addiction treatment programs and we would be happy to refer you or your loved one to another program following detox so that you can receive ongoing support.

About Gallus Detox

Over our 10+ years in the addiction recovery industry, we have developed a proprietary regimen of medications that help prevent and minimize withdrawal symptoms, leading to successful outcomes for our patients. We refer to this as “The Gallus Method.”

Our team monitors ever-changing drug trends, developing non-cross addicting treatments and tapering schedules that help ensure a safe and effective detox.

Withdrawal symptoms can vary depending on the type of drug used, the length of addiction, and other factors such as mental and physical health. Because of our experience with various addiction types, including polysubstance addiction, we are able to work with patients to customize treatment plans that fit their needs and circumstances.

Our Commitment to Excellence

As a Center of Excellence accredited by the Joint Commission, we hold ourselves to a high standard when it comes to patient care. Our Dallas detox center staff includes a medical director, a clinical director, and experienced ICU/ER nursing staff who are experts in managing withdrawal symptoms.

Patients in our detox programs meet daily with a healthcare provider to assess their symptoms and ensure treatment is as comfortable and effective as possible. We are committed to providing the most comprehensive care with the least risk and overall cost.

Our goal is for clients to feel respected, heard, and welcomed as they embark on the challenging journey of addiction recovery —which is why we frequently use the phrase “dignity in healing” .

What To Bring

Identification
A valid, physical form of photo identification. This will be used to verify your identity along with your Social Security number. A driver’s license, passport, military ID, government-issued ID, or school ID card is acceptable.
Medications
A two-week, preferably 30-day, supply of all your medications and supplements in their original prescription bottles and packaging. This will help us identify your current medications and ensure there will be no interruption to your daily doses.
Cigarettes/Vaping Devices
We allow smoking and vaping in our Las Vegas, Denver, and Scottsdale locations. Our Dallas/Fort Worth and San Antonio locations have limited smoking capabilities but we are able to accommodate patients' needs. All cigarettes, chew, and vape supplies must be in original, unopened packaging.
Personal Electronic Devices
Cellphones, tablets, and laptop computers are permitted as long as the use of these devices does not interfere with your detox treatment. We respect our patients’ autonomy, privacy, and discretion and know how helpful it is for you to stay connected to your support system and to be able to handle any business needs during treatment. Secure WiFi is available throughout the facility. Please bring chargers for these devices.
Miscellaneous Items
Bring CPAP machines, walking devices, or any other medically necessary items that you use at home.
Personal Effects
Clothing and toiletries. Please only bring enough clothes for a few days and limit items to one suitcase. Your private room has storage space for these items. We request that you refrain from bringing anything valuable to treatment. Please leave valuables and cash at home.
Other
Outstanding paperwork and payments. The admissions team will try to have all paperwork and finances handled before your arrival, but we know this is not always possible.
